Training Sheet FAQ'S

Each Training Sheet features wide side wings that tuck securely under the mattress. This helps prevent slipping, bunching or movement during the night, even for wriggly sleepers

You don’t have to, but we highly recommend layering the two - particularly during toilet training or for children who experience larger overnight accidents.

Think of your Training Sheet as your quick-change first layer. It sits on top of the bed, absorbs the accident and can simply be removed and popped in the wash.

Your Waterproof Fitted Sheet is your second line of defence, providing waterproof protection across the entire mattress underneath.

For high-volume accidents, the absorbent layers of a Training Sheet can become completely saturated. Adding a Waterproof Fitted Sheet underneath gives you another layer of protection if the Training Sheet becomes overwhelmed - and means there’s no need to completely strip the bed at 2am!

Yes. Like any absorbent textile, the absorbent layer of a Training Sheet has a limit to how much liquid it can hold at one time.

With a particularly large or fast accident, the absorbent layers can become completely saturated. Once they’re full, they can no longer effectively absorb additional liquid.

If your child continues lying on the saturated area, their body weight also compresses the wet layers and increases the pressure of the liquid against the waterproof PUL underneath.

Our Training Sheet sits across the top section of the bed and has wide wings that tuck underneath the mattress. It contains an absorbent inner layer to draw in liquid and is designed to be quickly removed after an accident.

Our Waterproof Fitted Sheet fits around the entire mattress just like a regular fitted sheet, with waterproof protection built in.

For the ultimate toilet-training setup, use them together:

Mattress → Waterproof Fitted Sheet → Training Sheet

When an accident happens, simply remove the Training Sheet while the Waterproof Fitted Sheet remains underneath protecting the mattress.

PUL stands for Polyurethane Laminate. It is a thin, flexible waterproof layer used within our Toilet Training Sheets and other waterproof bedding to create a barrier between moisture and the mattress underneath.

For children who regularly experience high-volume overnight accidents, we recommend layering your waterproof protection.

Place a Bambella Waterproof Fitted Sheet over the mattress first, with your Toilet Training Sheet on top.

The Training Sheet provides the absorbent, easy-to-remove first layer, while the Waterproof Fitted Sheet provides a second waterproof barrier across the mattress if the Training Sheet becomes overwhelmed.

It also makes those 2am changes much easier—remove the wet Training Sheet and you still have waterproof protection underneath!

We recommend having at least two. This makes overnight accidents much easier to manage - simply swap out the top layer and everyone gets back to sleep faster.

We don’t quote a maximum liquid capacity for our Training Sheets because a litre measurement alone can be misleading.

A laboratory-style pour test doesn’t replicate what happens during a real overnight accident. In real life, liquid may be released quickly and concentrated in one area, the absorbent layers may become saturated, and a sleeping child’s body weight may continue pressing that moisture against the PUL.

All of these factors affect how the product performs, so we prefer to explain the conditions that influence waterproof protection rather than promise a specific liquid capacity. There’s no exact maximum liquid capacity that applies to every situation. Our Training Sheets are designed to provide absorbency and waterproof protection for everyday toilet-training and overnight accidents, but every little wetter is different!

A particularly large or fast accident may saturate the absorbent layers, especially when concentrated in one spot. Your child’s body weight and the amount of time they remain on the wet area can also affect the performance of the waterproof barrier.

For regular high-volume accidents, we recommend adding a Waterproof Fitted Sheet underneath for an extra layer of protection.

Waterproof means the PUL provides a barrier designed to prevent liquid passing through - but it doesn’t mean unlimited protection under every volume and level of pressure.

With a high-volume accident, the absorbent layers can become saturated and your child’s body weight can press that liquid against the PUL for an extended period.

Think of it as volume + saturation + pressure + time. The more extreme these conditions become, the greater the demand placed on the waterproof barrier.

We love cotton - which is exactly why the entire top surface your little one sleeps on is 100% cotton.

But when we’re designing a product that’s expected to absorb accidents, protect a mattress and survive countless trips through the washing machine, we choose each material based on the job it needs to do.

Inside our Training Sheets you’ll find a polyester-blend absorbent layer. This functional layer helps manage and distribute moisture while adding strength, structure and durability to the sheet.

Polyester fibres are particularly resilient. They hold their shape well, dry efficiently and withstand repeated washing - all pretty important qualities for a product that may see the washing machine a lot during toilet training!

Absolutely. The top layer is made from soft, quilted 100% cotton, which feels comfortable against the skin.

Unlike traditional plastic waterproof pads, Bambella Training Sheets are quiet, soft and flexible. There’s no crinkly sound or stiff plastic feel.
